September 2007 Volunteer of the Month

Congratulations to Mary Jo Dennis

For being selected as our September volunteer of the month. Mary Jo has lived here for 4 years and prior to moving here she lived in Palomino Valley for 20 years.

Mary Jo has been a volunteer here at the Senior Center for 3 years and has volunteered for about 5 years total.

Her main duties as a volunteer is to work in the thrift shop. She works very hard accepting donations, pricing items and helping customers.

One of her favorite things regarding volunteering is the camaraderie of the people she volunteers with. Mary Jo volunteers about 8 hours a week. She started volunteering because she wanted to contribute to the community and enjoys thrift stores. Mary Jo also graciously makes baskets for our raffles and such.

She has her husband Wayne and 2 daughters one of which lives and works right here in Fernley.

Her former profession was as a Executive Secretary for a labor relations firm. Mary Jo tells others to volunteer because it is satisfying to know you are helping people no matter what capacity.
