June 2007 Volunteer of the Month


Congratulations to Elaine Fowler for being selected as June Volunteer of the Month. Elaine is the wife of the late Harold Cleveland Fowler. They have 2 grown children, 7 adorable grandchildren. During her career she was an clerk in a supermarket and also taught American Sign Language until her eyesight became poor. Elaine has been volunteering at the Fernley Senior Center for about a year. She helps out by keeping up the Centers scrapbook, folding the mailers each month, making grab bags for the thrift store and mystery gifts for special events. If you ask Elaine why she started to volunteer she will say she does it to meet new people and to help out where she can. She volunteers about 10-15 hours a week. Elaine also enjoys doing crafts and helps to make items for the craft fair in November. Elaine is originally from Massachusetts, but has lived in Nevada since Nov. 4th, 1978. Thank you Elaine for all you do here at the center.
