Fernley Senior Center March Volunteer of the Month

"I enjoy being with people" Betty Heglie moved from Winnamucca to Fernley a year ago and has been a volunteer at the Fernley Senior Center from day one.

Betty works the front desk to the tune of 10+ hours a week because she loves being with people. In her words she describes what she does as, "The good feeling of being with people, listening to them and giving time. I enjoy being with people."

She has been a volunteer, overall for 5 years.

Betty has 2 sons, 5 grandchildren and is a retired Bookkeeper.

When asked about the benefits of being a volunteer she said, "It's the only way to go - the great feeling to know that your time is so well spent - no time for your problems or ailments and being a part of something."
