Hi all, yes, I am not a resident of Fernley, but I still care.
Today I saw in the Fernley Leader Courier a statement from Joe Specchio regarding your office desiring to charge $0.25 per page to copy documents. I know you will make a killing with this new surcharge and so I have a wonderful idea on how you can use those funds.
I did some math on this. In one day - if 30 people were to come to your office to bring projects such as, documents, etc for the sake of doing business with the City of Fernley, and their documents are a total of ten (10) pages, well, that comes to a total of 300 pages at $0.25 per page = $75.00 per DAY that you have charged customers (plus don’t forget to charge the sales tax too). On an average of 249 business days a year (52 weeks X 5 business days 11 holidays) at $75.00 a day well that’s a whopping $18,675 a year PLUS sales tax!
Fernley has seen better days, and will see them again some day, however, Fernley is in desperate need of an expanded and updated Food Bank. With all the funds you will be getting from room tax dollars, coupled with the new copy charges you would like to charge, why don’t you give some of it back to the community?
OUR local food bank is in need of additional food to support the people who are losing their jobs, their homes and more. Won’t you please donate, maybe, perhaps $10,000 to the local Food Bank to help them during their hour of need?
Thanks for reading this letter from a non-resident.
