It would appear that I have misjudged our city officials. I complimented our city counsel and mayor, stating that they for once showed a real concern for the citizens of this city.
Yes, I'm talking about mandatory trash again. I was to believe that the committee that was to be formed concerning this very hot, and debated issue was going to be fair and impartial. There would be equal parties involved in this committee, however this is not quite true.
I'm told the committee comprises of one individual who is from the chamber of commerce, his secretary, as well as another citizen who are for mandatory waste pick up.
Then there are the two that are against mandatory waste pick up. You would think this would be fair representation at this point, with the exception of the secretary who by all rights is also for mandatory waste pick up. We now have 3 for, two against.
OK, lets move on, there is the city manager, who initiated the wording for the exemption process, then there is the city attorney's secretary who probably along with the city attorney initiated this mandatory ordinance from day one, and last but not least, the owner of Trash Pro.
I have to seriously question the fairness of this committee and its true purpose, it would seem to me, that the cards have once again been stacked against those of us who have some serious concerns with the wording of this ordinance as a whole.
I e-mailed our interim city manager requesting that he consider allowing one more citizen who was against the trash ordinance to sit on this committee. I never did get a response from him, but in all fairness to this city manager, this is pretty much the norm in our dealing with him. I did find out later by someone who is currently on the committee that he did get my e-mail, stating, its my committee, and I will decide who will be on it.
It would appear that the mayor, and his staff have not been forthright concerning this committee or the purpose thereof, and as such, I have lost all trust in this mayor, and sadly, most of our city officials. I for one have had enough of this administration, and believe its time to, no pun intended, take out the garbage. I am positive, that I am not the only one with these concerns.
