The Fernley/Wadsworth Lions Club, in conjunction with the VFW Post and Auxiliary #10247 will be sponsoring a major fund raising event in support of our projects for the benefit of the people of our area. The "HARD TIMES DANCE" will be held Saturday, October 4, 2008, from 6:30 to 12:00, in the Fernley Community Center, located on the corner of West Main and Center Streets. Dinner will be served and there will be auctions and raffles as well ad HIS and HERS prizes for the best representation of DEPRESSION ERA/HARD TIMES WEARING APPAREL. Proceeds from this event will be used to provide Eye Care, from exams to glasses or eye surgery, Hearing Augmentation, Camp Dat-So-La-Lee in Lamoille (Elko) for those children who otherwise would never be able to afford to attend a summer camp, our annual Easter Egg Hunt, Food Baskets for those in need and many other Community Services throughout the year. This year, along with our Speech Contest, we were able to award a total of 3 Scholarships to deserving students. All of this is made possible by the generosity of our "Hard Times Dance" donors. Won't you please help us to help them by making this event a huge success? Contributions of food, prizes and money will go a long way to enhance our ability to continue to serve our community.
